Tingdene Homes Limited received an enquiry for a nursery and day
care centre to be located in Norfolk, at this time no land was available,
however a grant had been allocated from the Lottery.
The owners of the day care centre
were originally considering traditional brick built construction
but found Tingdene's modular construction to be favourable.
Once suitable land had been found, the specification needed
to be decided upon and, with space being required for 50 children,
ranging from babies up to 12 year olds, the calculations for
space per child had to be calculated in accordance with Local
Authority and Social Service guidelines. |

The final layout was built in eight sections with a two piece roof.

Whilst the building was being constructed
at Tingdene's factory in Wellingborough, groundwords were
under way including the preparation of foundations, installation
of services and laying of paths and ramps. This is one of
the main advantages of modular building - a time saving of
many weeks over traditional construction.
The handover of the Fakenham Day Care Centre was completed
just eleven weeks after approval of specification. This rapid
turnaround is virtually unheard of in traditional building. |
